Carrie Underwood released her new single, “Cry Pretty” on Wednesday. The 35-year-old singer told fans in a blog post on Monday that the ballad reflects some of her personal experiences over the last year.
Underwood co-wrote “Cry Pretty” with Hillary Lindsey, Liz Rose and Lori McKenna of the Nashville songwriting team, the Love Junkies.
Underwood will be performing on Sunday at the 53rd Academy of Country Music Awards. This will be her first live performance since her accident last November that left her face and wrist injured.
